Deborah has been attending Ruthann Hadish's weekly Bliss Yoga classes since 2005. She recommends Bliss Yoga for enhancing the mind/body connection while keeping the body strong and flexible. The classes include attention to breath, energizing the chakra system and mediation. Ruthann does an excellent job of making the classes accessible to all levels of experience. Emphasis is on relaxing into a pose, with appropriate modifications to make the pose comfortable for your body.
Deborah attended the first SoulCollage class in Ames, offered by facilitator Deb Anders-Bond in 2004. Not only is SoulCollage a fun art form that anyone can do, it can also be very healing to honor the many layers of the self, the parts we like and the parts we would like to change. It is empowering to create on outer representation of the inner self. The images we are drawn to, manipulate and combine have much to teach us about who we are in the world. Deborah endorses SoulCollage as a true celebration of all aspects of our communities and ourselves. She has crafted over 50 cards since beginning the class and continues to add to her collection.
Deborah has participated in Women In Motion since its creation by Valerie Williams in 2006. This performance dance group accepts women of all ages, shapes and sizes, and all levels of dance experience, from professional to none. Dances are created through interactive improv by participants and synergizing Valerie's vision and choreography. Deborah considers this her creative playtime for her body and spirit. It is a collaborative celebration of life and movement.
